True Falcons
True falcons and falconets have round nostrils with an inner bony peg and a notch
on each side of the beak for killing their prey. True falcons have long, narrow,
pointed wings, and long, narrow toes with bumps for holding their prey. The female
bird is usually much larger than the male. Falconets are songbird-sized birds
that lay white eggs instead of the reddish-blotched eggs of other falcons.
