I visited Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh in December 1999 and October 2000. There were 5 or 6 White-backed Vulture nests and 13 to 15 nests of Slender-billed Vultures. We observed the nests on trees along the motor road close to the Garua River bank. In October 2003 I was given to understand by a forest official that there is still a vulture population there.
